Executive Director, Fiscal/Property Manager

Matt wears many hats these days. In addition to assuming the responsibility of Executive Director, he is the Fiscal and Property Manager. Matt has served at Buckeye since March of 2005 in various capacities after returning from Russia, where he spent 2 years working with street kids. Prior to this, he spent a year in the RAD program working for a youth outreach program in Northern Ireland. Matt graduated from Bluffton University in 2000 with a B.A. in Youth Ministries/Recreation and a minor in music. He and his wife Renata live in Canton.

Adult Programming and Marketing Coordinator

Vi Miller is a social worker and married to camp founder, Nate Miller, and as such has been at camp since the very beginning in 1984. Vi has been involved in many different ways throughout the years, including being a board member and most recently, Executive Director from 2004 – 2007. Her secret passions include spicy and exotic foods.

Program Director

While new at Buckeye, Scott is no newcomer to camps. He has worked with the Moravian Camp for years and loves the camp setting. He has his degree in education from the University of Michigan and has taught in Michigan. Since moving to Ohio, he has worked at the Multi-County Juvenile Attention Facility in Canton, and currently is owner of Magic Mirror Hair Salon in New Philadelphia. He lives in Dover with is wife, Sharyn and daughter, Skyanna.

Caretakers, Guests Hosts and Fundraising/Marketing Director

Jerry & Mary Jo Hershberger moved into Camp's Caretaker Cottage June, 2006. Their gifts of hospitality and food management have already been a great asset to the camp. They serve as the Guest Host and Hostess. Jerry has experience in a variety of areas, from pastoring to cooking at a camp in Colorado, to serving as a Tour Guide. His hobby is reading. Mary Jo's hobbies are crocheting and swimming. They are be offering food service to our guests and catering special banquets and dinners at the camp upon request. So treat yourself to some awesome, creative home cooking!

Office Manager/Guest Group Coordinator

Lucy is our amazing Office Manager.  Without her, the office wheel would grind to a halt!  Lucy brings her school teacher and home school mom skills to the office and keeps all of us in line. Her presence is calming and reassuring even in the most hectic of times!  Lucy’s secret passion is reading.

Outdoor Education Coordinator

Dan King comes to Camp Buckeye with a wide variety of skills and experiences. He holds degrees in biology and school administration. The majority of his 27 years of teaching has been in science, Grades 4-8, in Florida and Ohio. Other hats he has worn include school principal, pastor, and volunteer in Nicaragua. Dan has helped lead high school groups to study marine biology in the Florida Keys. Travels have taken Dan to Russia, Central America, Canada, and much of the U.S. Dan lives in Dover with his wife Jeanette. They have two adult sons.
